This caravan park restaurant will take on Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White to be named UK's best eating place

A restaurant on a North Wales caravan park will take on Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White after being shortlisted as one of the finest eating places in Britain.

Signatures – run by Jimmy and Louise Williams – is hidden away on Aberconwy Resort and Spa near Conwy.

Despite its quiet location word has spread about the high standard of the food and now seen the restaurant make the 10 name shortlist for Restaurant of the Year 2017 in the British Restaurant Awards.

They have some very high profile competition for the award.

Other restaurants shortlisted include Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London, Marco Pierre White Steakhouse in Newcastle and the Michelin star Hakkasan Restaurant in Mayfair.

Jimmy said: “We couldn’t believe it when we saw the list.

“This small restaurant on a holiday park in North Wales up against Gordon Ramsay and some Michelin star restaurants.

“We don’t know how we got on there, we hadn’t entered but apparently we were nominated by our customers.”

While not having the Michelin recognition of some of the rivals they have recently been awarded two AA rosettes.

The next stage is the public vote.
